Linda: I have not been able to find anything good about Take Charge America - only complaints. Here is a link to a great resource for choosing a debt consolidation or debt settlement company. http://debtconsolidationservices.choicerevu.com. Here you can find out some background info and how some of these companies are rated.

Hi Chuck,

I have been referred to Take Charge America to help me with my debts. I don't know of anyone who has used them before. I did call them and they seem legitimate. I live in Washington state but they are located in Arizona? Could you please let me know how you liked them? I would really appreciate any input. Thanks

I completely agree with the above comment. I used NCA Credit Repair back in 2003 and they removed 18 charged off accounts from my credit reports and my bankruptcy in a little less than 4 months. I would absolutely use them again.

My husband and I lose our our house to a short sale, the bank did file for foreclosure but it was sold before it went to foreclosure. The bank did put foreclosure out our credit report. Plus we have had some other credit issues. We are getting ready to pay off all our debt, I have read not to close your CC. Can we still pay them off then have them reduce the Max amount to borrow? If we pay off everything, how long does it take to see an improvement on our scores?

Consolidating your cards may be harder to do then you think- Right now, banks really do not want to take the risk of combining multiple accounts, all on to one lender. What I see happen with people who have consolidated the credit cards, is they leave them open, and then use them. Causing the person to be in even more debt down the road. Depending on the amount you owe, and your financial situation, you may qualify for debt settlement. It is not for everyone- so I would need to talk to you more in detail about it. As far as your credit being affected with consolidation loan, it would depend on the type of loan and terms. Credit bureaus have there own way of grading your credit. SO it is hard to answer that question without knowing more about the whole situation- you can contact me at deawn@ncacreditrepair.com to go over more details!

Most of the time, if you have bad outstanding debt, your credit is already very effected. Depending on amounts and ages of the accounts, would help me answer your question better. Debt settlement will help you manage a monthly payment plan, and pay your debt off in a timely manner. If your debt is old, and already in collections, then Debt settlement will help you get back on your feet, and get those paid off for much less then you owe. It does not look worse on the credit, as now, the active open collection account would be paid. And slowly, the credit will recover. Or you can always look at credit repair after the debt is paid. Please contact me for a free evaluation of your situaion! deawn@ncacreditrepair.com

Some times items will remain longer on the credit reports then you think- as it will go from date of last activity. Sometimes the information will remain longer, as a mistake on the bureaus end. The best thing you can do, is look into doing credit repair. I would only do this if you have other things reporting negative on the report that are less than 7 years. You can also dispute these old accounts with the bureaus yourself. But I would recomend leaving it to the professionals! I do know that NCA credit repair has an amazing track record! www.ncacreditrepair.com is there web site.

There are many companies out there to repair your credit- However, you may want to go with a company that has been doing it for years, and has great reviews. Experience in this field is key! Please check out the web site below for some good options! Also- you may have to rebuild your credit with a pre-paid card-that reports to all bureaus. Make all payments on time, and keep a low balance. Getting a small secured loan might also help. For example, using your car title at a bank for a small loan.
